Red oak group trees and white oak group trees are pretty easy to distinguish. First, red oaks usually have flatter bark ridges while white oak becomes a little flaky. Second and most distinguishing are their leaves. White oak leafs have rounded lobes while red oak lobes are quite pointed. Oaks in general are great trees for timber, wildlife, and they are just plain pretty!
