I'm using Mobile 3309 transmission fluid instead of Genuine Toyota OEM T-IV Automatic Transmission Fluid, although both are great products. Mobil ATF 3309 is recommended for use in transmissions made by Aisin AW requiring fluids approved against JWS 3309 or GM 9986195. It is also recommended for service fill applications where Toyota T-IV is needed. Please refer to the owners’ manual for proper fluid requirements.

The following are bottled in the same plant, on the same assembly line, straight from the Baytown, Baton Rouge, and Beaumont refineries:

Mobil 3309
Toyota T-IV
Volvo JWS 3309
Mazda T-IV/3309
Saab JWS 3309
BMW/Mini JWS 3309

However, I wouldn't go so far as to say they're all the same; until Toyota or Mobil say they are. There is no official documentation (that I could find) proving they're the same. 3309 meets T-IV specs but T-IV specs don't meet the JS3309 spec---real simple.
