This film is the result of many things: Countless hours on the road, lack of sleep, broken camera gear, frustration, exhilaration, forecasting, mistake making, support from my family and so much more. However, the main thing is passion. It's what drives me and keeps me awake when I need to sleep, keeps me editing when I want to watch TV and keeps me striving when I just want to quit.
Monsoon 7 is the culmination of the last two years of the monsoon in Arizona, two seasons that many would call lackluster and not exciting. But when you chase storms like I have for over a decade, you learn how to find the good ones. Yet the work it took to capture this footage seemed to require more than ever. And that makes it all the more sweeter.
I hope you enjoy this film. I want to thank Kerry Muzzey for allowing me to use his music again, tracks I worked with long ago at the beginning, but wanted to revisit one more time. His music is so perfect for what I do, I was thrilled to be re-inspired by it yet again.
I've watched this one a few hundred times, fixed dust spots, camera shake, colors and water drops. At the end for the final scene, you'll notice some drops and then a quick "wipe" or two where I was desperately trying to keep my lens free of rain. It didn't work, but I left it in anyways because I love that scene.
Thank you to my wife and kids for their undying support for what I do. Sometimes I get back when the kiddos are still awake and my little guy will ask me if I got anything good. It always brings a smile to my face. They are my every thing.
