On October 11, 1968, Apollo 7, the first manned Apollo mission, was launched with astronauts Wally Schirra, Donn Fulton Eisele and R. Walter Cunningham aboard.

A triumphant start to the most significant stage in American's race to the Moon - the launch of Apollo Seven, carrying astronauts Schirra, Eisele and Cunningham on an eleven-day orbital mission.
