(7 Mar 2015) Clashes erupted between Palestinian protesters and Israeli soldiers at the Qalandia checkpoint in the West Bank on Saturday, as protesters gathered ahead of International Women's Day.
Protesters chanted anti-Israeli slogans and held placards, including one which read "Israel, an unjust and extremist entity is the main threat to women."
Israeli soldiers fired tear gas at the protesters to disperse the crowd.
One protester said she hoped International Women's Day on March 8th would be a day "that symbolises challenge, resistance and steadfastness."
According to the official website, International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women.
