Anilao黑水攝影是一種特殊的水下攝影技術，是指在夜晚或黃昏時在深海中拍攝微小生物的攝影方式。可以捕捉炫麗的海中生物影像, 一窺深海生物的多樣性.

黑水攝影的水中生物,很多只有小指的指甲大小,一,兩公分,而且全身透明,移動迅速,快速而且沒有一定方向的快速鑽動. 而且拍攝者懸浮在半空中,沒有任何依靠穩定畫面, 完全靠中性浮力,控制攝影畫面穩定, 尤其對拍攝連續畫面的影片而言,是個極其大的挑戰.

因為半夜在水中,視線完全漆黑, 很多浮游生物有趨光性,攝影師的燈光非常容易吸引很多浮游生物聚集在鏡頭面前,拍出來很多畫面好像味增湯,充滿了許多的雜質,這一些對後製的影片也造成了非常大的困擾.

攝影師漂浮在200- 300米的海底深溝之上, 唯一的視覺依靠就是船家放置的水中浮標. 在漆黑不見底的海底拍攝少見的各種海洋生物.

黑水攝影的主要目標是拍攝透明或半透明的浮游生物，如水母、海蛞蝓、海蟲等，以及其他小型海洋生物。
