The tradition of Air Chief himself leading the Pakistan Day Flypast was set by the Legendary Air Marshal Asghar Khan.
On 23rd March 1962, he led the flypast in an F-104 Starfighter.
Since then, the flypast during Pakistan Day Parade is led by the PAF Chief, flying the most advance fighter in PAF inventory.
This glorious tradition is unique among the air forces of the world. It is testimony to PAF's leadership ethos of Leading from the Front and is a source of inspiration for every man in blue.
In the video, the Chief's own F-16D Block-52+ of PAF No. 5 Sqn pulling up and carrying the proud legacy.
Note: The video depicts CAS's flypast leading entry. However the video was made on second full dress rehearsal, 19-March-2021 because the parade has been postponed in accordance to unfavorable weather for Parade on 23rd March.
