A huge brawl broke out in Georgia’s Parliament House on Monday after the leader of a party was punched in the face.
The ruler of the leading Georgian Dream Party, Mamuka Mdinaradze, was discussing the heated “foreign agents” law before he was attacked.
As Mdinaradze addressed the chamber in Georgia’s Parliament House, his opposition, Aleko Elisashvili, attacked him.
Following 46-year-old Elisashvili’s strike, his rival Mdinaradze fell over before others in the chamber joined the fight.
The “foreign agents” law address, which led to the fight, has been widely criticised by numerous countries and has been labelled as a “Putin-style” import from Russia.
The new bill demands media and non-commercial groups be listed under the influence of foreign entities if over 20 per cent of their budget is from abroad.
