Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by a narrow margin but he remains ahead on several main policy areas with two weeks to go until US election day, according to polling for The Times.

Harris was the choice for president of 47 per cent of American voters, up one point from September, while Trump was unchanged on 45 per cent, the poll conducted by YouGov on October 18-21 showed. Five per cent of voters said they remained unsure who to vote for and 3 per cent backed minor candidates.
The margin of error in the survey of 1,266 registered voters was 3.2 points.
