Italy marked the 50th anniversary of its liberation from fascism
on Tuesday (25/4) with thousands taking part in commemorative
marches and masses throughout the country. Former partisans held a large rally in Milan just a short distance from where Mussolini, his mistress, and other fascist officials were strung up after being summarily executed in 1945. Many leading politicians attended the gathering, including President Oscar Luigi Scalfaro.
