"The port, this port, is going to mean the entrance of Asia, not only from China, from Asia. Today there are no established routes, neither from Callao (Port of Callao in Peru), nor from Chile standardized by shipping companies. This port is going to give the opportunity to have a direct route to be able to export our products to an immense market which is Asia."

STORYLINE:
The Chinese state-owned COSCO Shipping declared their new infrastructure project north to the Peruvian capital Lima is hear halfway through its construction, aiming to start operations by the end of 2024.
The pier, tunnel and warehouses are known as the Mega Port, one that the Public Affairs Manager of project, Mario de las Casas, said would open the Asian markets into Peru, being this the first standard route for shipping companies and could serve as a regional hub.
Cosco Shipping Ports Limited (CSPL) owns 60% of the shares and the Peruvian Volcan Mining Company 40%.
The company also expects to receive larger ships than the ones able to dock in the existent piers, due to the 16-meter (52.4 feet) draught of the Chancay bay.
