The Vatican is continuing its preparation for Sunday's canonization of 10 new saints. One of them was an 18th century Indian Hindu convert to Catholicism. Blessed Lazarus Devasahayam is the 1st layperson and martyr from India. He was baptized by Jesuit priests and was thrown in jail after he renounced traditional Hindu religious festivals. Blessed Lazarus was only Catholic for 7 years. He was shot and killed in 1752. Director of the Salesian News Agency, Fr. Harris Pakkam, joins to tell us more about the life of Blessed Lazarus and what drew him to the Catholic faith. Fr. Harris discusses what this moment meant for the faithful in India. He shares in what ways Blessed Lazarus remains relevant today.
