Former minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim questioned Malay rights group Perkasa's call for a one-week boycott of Petronas for awarding a solar panel contract to a non-Bumiputera company.
He said that Petronas had rightly defended its merit-based decision.
Previously, Perkasa's president Syed Hassan Syed Ali voiced disappointment that Petronas did not prioritise Bumiputera contractors and called for a one-week boycott of Petronas stations.
Zaid suggests boycotting political leaders who fail to help Malays be successful. He calls for progressive economic agendas to empower Malay contractors and suppliers to compete on merit.
