This presentation I give to boards, management teams and audiences at conferences about the 4th Industrial Revolution. This revolution is a world where neither age, not size or reputation, guarantees your organisation will be around tomorrow. This revolution is coming whether you’re ready or not.
This 4th Industrial Revolution is characterised by emerging technology breakthroughs with potentially highly disruptive effects.
Technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), autonomous vehicles, virtual, augmented and mixed reality, 3D printing, biotechnology, nanotechnology, materials science, renewable energy, blockchain, 5G mobile networks (5G), satellites, space technologies, quantum computing and many more.
While our traditional linear view of the future may have served us well in the previous Industrial Revolutions, they are unreliable predictors of the future.
We need new exponential thinking about the needs of societies, value creation, behaviour of markets and economic performance or just survival in the 4th Industrial Revolution which is unfolding this decade.
As technology is so intertwined with life now, this presentation will lift you out of your comfort zone and engage you on:
Firstly, how emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, automation, nanotechnology and many others, will fuse our digital, physical, environmental and biological worlds resulting in a fundamental shift in value creation.
Secondly, the need to move away from ‘linear thinking’, to the new ‘exponential systems leadership’ thinking - this is described as cultivating a shared purpose for change, collaborating with all stakeholders interconnected into a global society, and executing in an agile or adaptive manner, to garner system benefits.
Thirdly, a look into the new industries that will emerge this decade resulting from these major technological shifts and their impact on smart cities, future of work or even life expectancy.
And lastly, the skills revolution. As the 4th Industrial Revolution runs on knowledge, we need a concurrent revolution in training and education to deliver the new skills, to industries new and old, in the right supply and at the right time.
