Learn about choosing an accelerating voltage for Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis. Using animated sketches we explain the role of overvoltage and why users might choose to acquire data at lower accelerating voltages. We touch on the role of accelerating voltage on interaction volume and the emission of characteristic X-Ray lines. Finally we compare standard EDS detectors with a window and windowless EDS detectors.
