Pope Francis concluded his apostolic journey to the island of Malta and Gozo, home to only 500,000 souls. In this video, we take you on a tour of the Catholic beauty of the island.
Accompany us on this journey to discover the Marian Shrine of Ta' Pinu, the most important sanctuary on the island, and the miracle that occurred to little Francesco who, thanks to the intercession of Our Lady, remained alive.
We visited the famous Grotto of San Paolo. The place is located under the church of the same name in Rabat: it is the place where St. Paul is said to have taken refuge with his disciples after a tragic shipwreck on the island.
In the Acts of the Apostles it is said that St. Paul, during his stay, healed several people including St. Publius, father of the governor of the time. The cave became one of the first places of Christian worship on the island and made St. Paul the most venerated saint in Malta.
Finally, we visited Brother Dominio Wintoff, director of the John XXIII Peace Lab, which Pope Francis visited, a center for migrants that embodies the spirit with which St. Paul was received by the Maltese people.
It is not only a center that receives foreigners in need, but an example of "education for peace" started decades ago by a Franciscan friar, Father Dionisio Mintoff, who is 91 years old and currently accompanies 55 migrants who live here. #PopeinMalta #Malta #Travel
