STORYLINE:
Hungarians basked in sunshine on Tuesday as unseasonably warm weather descended on East-Central Europe.
In the capital Budapest, children and dogs played in the city''''s public fountains, enjoying the high temperatures that coincided with the four-day-long Labour Day weekend.
"Usually spring lasts for two weeks, but now it''''s a real summer time weather," said Monika Kovacs, as she fed ice cream to her two children. "At least my children can play in the cold water."
At a May Day classic car rally in the capital, spectators shaded themselves with large, colourful parasols.
As the vintage cars raced around the track in the sunshine, even the dogs riding as passengers needed to wear sunglasses.
Temperatures in the Carpathian Basin of East-Central Europe have reached 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit), a record temperature for this time of year.
The hot and sunny weather is expected to last for several days more.
