There is a field South of the farm that hasn't been worked in about 4 years. The field used to be pastured, but the annual flooding in the Spring kept taking the fence down, so we no longer used it. Alan decided to start planting corn on the 3 acre piece. Alan planted corn at that field for a few years, but the local Beaver population had other plans. The Beavers plugged the culvert under the road to the field and the whole road ended up getting washed away. The road needed to have a new culvert, but it went on the backburner for a few years. Alan decided it was time to reclaim that field after seeing how bad the brush had grown in.
Alan tried discing the brush down, but it needed to be mowed. Alan's brother, Paul, brush mowed the field with the 820 John Deere. Alan then plowed the field with the International 1066. After that was done, Paul spread some manure from a Heifer pen on the field while Alan disced with the International 1256. All that's left to do now is to plant some corn!
