When I bought my beloved brera I occasionally noticed a ticking sound coming from under the firewall, under the drivers side (R&D) pedal area.
I determined that the pulsation damper in the high pressure fuel pump was getting fuel on the vapor side of the diaphragm. This was found to come from the small in line check valve. I replaced the check valve with an eBay sourced valve, all good now coming on for 7 years.
