Radical skeptics will often doubt the validity of their sensory experiences. That being said, is it possible to practically live while doubting your senses? One of the first skeptics, Pyrrho of Elis, did just that. In his work, The Lives of Eminent Philosophers, Diogenes Laertius records some anecdotes about Pyrrho's life. Apparently, if Pyrrho was having a conversation and the other person left, he would continue talking just to himself. Also, it's said that he did not flinch or react when he underwent surgery.
These anecdotes should be taken with a large grain of salt, but if they were true, it shows how dedicated one may become to one's philosophy. #philosophy #history #skepticism
