Australia will have a new security pact with Papua New Guinea by June after high-level talks between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and PNG's Prime Minister James Marape.
The leaders announced negotiations would be completed by April 30 and will come into effect before July.
The treaty will focus on training cooperation and increasing personnel capacities, raising the possibility for joint exercises.
