Unruly scenes were witnessed during the general body meeting of the Kurnool Zilla Parishad here on Saturday, as representatives of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) traded barbs against each other, a few minutes after the commencement of the meet of words began when Kurnool District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) Chairman Mallikarjuna Reddy, discussing the alleged misappropriations in funds reportedly allocated for cooperative societies in Kothapalli, brought in the reference of YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during the deliberations. This in turn elicited strong response from the YSRCP leaders, especially Kothapalli ZPTC member Purushottam Reddy, who in turn uttered harsh words and alleged that misappropriations were done in the funds meant for offering loans for farming community. As the situation escalated, YSRCP leaders, including MLC Gangula Prabhakar Reddy and MLA Gowru Charitha Reddy staged a demonstration at the podium demanding removal of Mr. Jagan’s name from the discussions and also an apology from Mr. Mallikarjuna Reddy and others. With the Chairperson’s intervention, the issue came to a gradual close.Meanwhile, Collector S. Satyanarayana remarked that the emphasis was on the comprehensive development of the district. Explaining the developments, Mr. Satyanaryana said for the 2018 kharif season, they had distributed 29,259 quintals of seeds till date, against the estimated 47,435 quintals and outlined the other issues/programmes being carried out for the benefit of the farming community.He said that they had embarked on constructing compound walls for every government school in a phased manner. Special focus was being put on solving the water scarcity issues, he added.Resolutions of the general body meeting include sanction of permissions and funds for Gundrevula project, transfer of official sanctions of Muchumarri project from Anantapur CE to Kurnool CE, for which Chairman M. Rajasekhar gave his approval.
