The Irony of Kevin Nash Complaining About CM Punk
From The Stevie Richards Show episode 2
Here's the clean version of the original Kevin Nash quote on CM Punk:
“Punk was on social media... and he was stating that he was added to the [2K] video game along with Terry Funk and a couple of the... ECW Hardcore guys. My only thing is this. I tore my quad. Well, it happened. A lot of people just don't know about it... probably because I came back quicker than a triceps tear.
So he's saying he's going to be back for SummerSlam. He tore that... in January. I'm just saying... I tore my triceps, had it reconnected and I didn't miss a pay per view. Thanks for the guaranteed money. Don't get paid and see how, how long you lay around with your arm and a sling.”
So Kevin Nash, the man who likes to claim he's somehow the inventor (which he isn't) of guaranteed contracts for wrestlers along with Scott Hall (who also isn't), is complaining that when he hurt his triceps back in 1995, he continued wrestling after having it re-attached a month earlier and "never missed a pay per view".
Nash here either comes across as bitter that wrestlers in 2024 have the option of actually healing their injuries without fear of being let go or, even worse, complaining that CM Punk is sitting out his contract while getting paid - the irony being that Nash did exactly that out of protest while with WCW in 1997, then did as little as humanly possible throughout his entire WCW run, including "booking his own retirement" to take himself out as active performer for months, all the while collecting his guaranteed money from Turner.
Ultimately, CM Punk cooked Kevin Nash pretty hard during their 2011 "feud" that never culminated in a match, but did include promos of Nash not being able to keep up with Punk on the microphone.
As for why CM Punk and Kevin Nash never wrestled? Here's a quote from Nash:
"When I was supposed to wrestle Punk, he got under [Paul Levesque's] skin so bad. Paul just came up to me and said, 'I'm going to beat him. You're not going to wrestle him. I'm beating him.' Cool. That's why me and Punk never wrestled. He made the call, 'I gotta beat this f***er.'"
But the REAL reason was more likely that Nash couldn't get medically cleared at the time because he was on blood thinners. Maybe Nash hates Punk so much he just has to make up a nonsense reason for their match not taking place?
