In this video I go over the Acadian family names and history for this remote part of Nova Scotia. Many of these families have emigrated out during the last century to other areas of Nova Scotia, to Massachusetts, USA and beyond. There is a rich heritage here of determination and perseverance in the face of overwhelming odds. They lost their homes and lives in other parts of Nova Scotia in the mid 17th century, being imprisoned, forced to labor for their enemies before gaining freedom in a land among those who still did not want them there as a people or their faith. They moved to the outer edges of society in a remote area of Nova Scotia to build a legacy of faith.
