SiliconCore has developed a common cathode drive architetcure which they say their patents protects high bit depth implementations of this approach. At DisplayWeek they showed 1.2 mm implementations and a 0.83mm display withh 2000 nits - with versions that can actually go up to 4000 nits - very impressive for this pixel pitch.
Their ZACH technology can be used to measure the impedance (Z) to each pixel and ceate a LUT for high uniformity.
New is a business initiative to offer modules to other suppliers with Silicon Core doing the manufacturing. An ASIC is in development to replace the FPGA in each module to reduce cost and heat.
