This is a rare recording. Its interest derives not only from its rarity, however, but from the fact that Bellini wrote Adelson e Salvini in 1825, when he was still a student. It impressed impresario Domenico Barbaia so much that he commissioned a new opera from the young Bellini for the prestigious San Carlo. One can already hear traces, in this short aria, of the long legato lines for which Bellini was later to become famous.
