Korean suspense drama Squid Game took the world by storm with its jaw-dropping plot and quickly became the most-watched series ever on Netflix.

Those who aren’t fluent in Korean leaned on subtitles but a viral tik tok outlined there was a great deal of cultural context left out of the English translation. Rolling Stone News sat down with comedian Youngmi Mayer to break down a few scenes from Squid Game and provide a more in-depth look as to what non-Korean speakers may have missed.
