Three people were killed and several injured during violent clashes in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal on Sunday. Protesters opposing a court-ordered survey of the Mughal-era Shahi Jama Masjid pelted stones at police and attempted to torch vehicles. Police used tear gas and batons to control the mob.The deceased have been identified as Naeem, Bilal, and Nauman. Some police personnel, including the superintendent’s gunner, were also injured. According to officials, the violence erupted near the mosque as a crowd gathered during the survey, which began early to avoid disrupting afternoon prayers.Authorities reported that gunshots were fired by miscreants, and several policemen sustained pellet injuries. Ten individuals have been detained, and those involved will face charges under the stringent National Security Act (NSA).Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh and other officials stated that the situation is now under control, with additional police deployed in the area. The survey continued despite the disruptions. Videos of the stone-pelting incident have surfaced online, and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible.
