Minister for Resources and Water Keith Pitt says the federal government is “responsible to the Australian people”.
It comes as former Dow Chemical CEO Andrew Liveris and Business Council CEO Jennifer Westacott have joined Liberal MPs in calling for stronger interim targets ahead of COP27 in Egypt next year.
“The goalpost will always move but we’ve made commitments, we’ll stick to them, we’ve delivered on our commitments previously but business, they’re responsible to their shareholders,” Mr Pitt told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“We’re responsible to the Australian people and I’ll continue to put them front and centre.”
