Copper converting, where iron and sulphur are removed from the molten matte, is typically carried out by Peirce-Smith Converting process. SysCAD with ChemApp was used to develop a dynamic model of this batch process, including the system’s complex thermochemistry. Combining the highly advanced ChemApp thermodynamic calculation engine with the flexible and robust dynamic simulation capabilities of SysCAD allows exploration and evaluation of copper converting issues that would be difficult to achieve by a steady-state simulation approach.
Presentation by Dr Tanai Marín and Dr Kevin Heppner of SysCAD. First presented by Tanai at the GTT-Technologies Users’ Meeting 29-30 June 2022: [ Ссылка ]
