(11 Aug 2016) Longtime federal drug enforcement official Thomas J. Gorman said the Obama administration's decision to keep marijuana on the list of most dangerous drugs, is the correct decision under current law.
The Drug Enforcement Administration said the agency's decision came after a lengthy review and consultation with the Health and Human Services Department, which said marijuana "has a high potential for abuse" and "no accepted medical use."
The government said it will allow more research into marijuana's medical uses, which Gorman said he supports.
Gorman leads the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Program that focuses on breaking up large drug trafficking organizations in Colorado and nearby states.
