Everyone knows Ukrainian Shchedryk, the most famous Christmas song in the world. Yet, few people know about conductor Oleksandr Koshyts, who revealed this legendary carol. His name along with the names of numerous other renowned Ukrainians whose works were so important for Ukrainian state-building and who made their Motherland ring proudly in distant countries are still a mystery to many.
FILM.UA Group hereby presents a new series entitled "Forgotten Names". The project is aimed at revealing talented Ukrainians highly appreciated throughout the world but unfairly little-known in our country.
Our first episode is dedicated to Oleksandr Koshyts – composer, choirmaster, conductor, and folklore researcher. He was the one who presented Leontovych's Schedryk, and it was his adaptation of The Dream Passes by the Windows lullaby that set the ground for Summertime jazz standard by George Gershwin.
