Marlene Negrete became a young teen mom at the age of 16 but eventually earned her associate degree at a community college. Years later, after being inspired by a work colleague, the project manager for a non-profit health care organization finally decided to go back to school to pursue her bachelor’s degree. A first-generation graduate, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Health Care Administration in 2022 while working full time and taking care of her two children. Despite her busy schedule, she continued her education, relying on the flexibility and support at UAGC to earn a Master of Arts in Health Care Administration, finishing with a 4.0 GPA in 2023, an accomplishment she hopes will help her stay competitive in the health care field, increase her job security, and inspire her children.
