2007's debut Autumn Fallin' cemented Jaymay as an independent, bold voice in acoustic pop and literary folk, garnering praise from SPIN, Paste, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Observer and more and laying the foundation for a loyal fanbase that would bolster her message from NYC hometown and beyond.
With the kickoff of her 2016 PledgeMusic campaign, Jaymay pulled the curtain back on the making of this highly personal project inspired just as much by a painful battle with Crohn's Disease and the death of her sister Cassie as it was by creative rediscovery and unconditional truth-telling.
In addition to divulging 13 raw musical confessions, the songstress offers companion art to help enhance the songs messages and donated a portion of album proceeds to The Center for Discovery where Cassie went to school.
For the majority of Jaymay's longtime fans, her jam-packed album release show at NYC's Berlin on August 31 marked the first time they heard what Jaymay considers to be the most telling music she'll ever create. Now, fans across the northeast U.S. can get caught up on the artist's journey with a run of tour dates in support of To Tell The Truth and Jaymay's story at large.
About thisisasides.com
Jon Chattman's music/entertainment series typically features celebrities and artists (established or not) from all genres performing a track, and discussing what it means to them. This informal series focuses on the artist making art in a low-threatening, extremely informal (sometime humorous) way. No bells, no whistles -- just the music performed in a random, low-key setting followed by an unrehearsed chat. In an industry where everything often gets overblown and over manufactured, Jon strives for a refreshing change. (Theme song by Blondfire.) Artists featured on the series include Imagine Dragons, Melissa Etheridge, Yoko Ono, Elle King, Joe Perry, Alice Cooper, James Bay, Jimmy Eat World, Charli XCX, Marina and the Diamonds, and Bastille.
