Robotic systems today need cameras, training and take time in order to grasp and place objects. But what if, like humans, they had a “sense of touch” that enabled them to pick up a range of objects of different shapes and sizes instinctively?
Enter TacnIQ.
SGInnovate is working with a team of engineers from National University of Singapore that have created an e-skin that can detect touch 1,000 times faster than human skin, boosting productivity and minimising damage in production lines. “Physical information is not really comprehensible by AI now,” said Aashish Mehta, “we are providing a way to record this information and the ability for AI systems to make decisions like humans do.”
Together with support from our venture-building team, TacnIQ is looking to apply their proprietary technology sensor to different areas including healthcare.
