In Wellington, New Zealand, Lionel Cosgrove, a downtrodden bachelor still under the thumb of his tyrannical mother Vera, believes he's found true love with Paquita, a kind-hearted grocery store clerk. However, their budding romance takes a horrific turn when a trip to the zoo ends with Vera being bitten by a vicious Sumatran Rat-Monkey. This seemingly innocuous bite sends Lionel's world into chaos as his mother transforms into a pus-oozing, flesh-eating zombie. With Vera's infection spreading and his home overrun by undead misfits, Lionel must confront the grotesque situation, unearth dark family secrets, and muster the courage to save both his beloved and himself from the nightmare. But does Lionel have what it takes to clean up the mess and win Paquita's heart?
