The potato cod is a species of marine, ray-finned grouper fish. It is found across the Indo-Pacific.
They are known to be aggressive around people, especially when the person has a fish.
The dorsal fin has 11 spines and 14 or 15 soft rays.
This large, robust species of grouper, can reach a length of 2 metres or 80 inches and a weight of 240 pounds (110kg).
Their common name, potato cod, comes from the dark blotches on the body, which resemble potatoes in their shape.
