Teachers and parents have welcomed a directive by the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Museveni warning secondary schools against levying new fees without seeking permission from the ministry. The minister directed schools to submit their fees structures for the last three years to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry before 10th March. Secretary General of Uganda National Teachers Association James Tweheyo says the ministry had neglected its supervisory role as enshrined with the Education Act of 2008.
