These teeth form in the upper and lower jaws in the shape of an arch. You have an upper arch called the maxillary arch, and a lower arch called the mandibular arch.
The teeth can also be divided into four quadrants: Right maxillary (1), Left maxillary (2), left mandibular (3), and right mandibular (4).
Humans develop two sets of teeth throughout life, which are also called dentitions. The primary teeth erupt first, starting at around age 6 months. There are 20 of these teeth in total. The permanent teeth begin erupting around age six, and there are 32 of those teeth in a complete set.
