The Nigeria Police Force's Nasarawa State Command has confirmed the assault of the Emir of Gurku's palace in Nasarawa State by suspected terrorists who kidnapped the traditional ruler, Jubril Mohammed, and his wife on Sunday evening.
This was mentioned in a press statement issued by the state police spokeswoman, DSP Ramhan Nansel, who stated that the offenders invaded the Emir's palace, which is located 10 kilometres from the state's main town of Gurku in the Karu local government region.
After receiving the information, the state commissioner of police, Baba Maiyaki, despatched a joint team of agents to the region to coordinate with vigilantes, according to Nansel.
Nansel claimed that the adjacent shrubbery and mountains had been investigated, but that all attempts to locate the abductees had been useless.
He also stated that the commissioner of police had dispatched additional officers from the tactical team, the anti-kidnapping squad, and the Karu area command to aid with the search.
He claims efforts are being taken to keep the Emir and his wife safe.
The police are determined to rescue them and eradicate the scourge in the state, according to the statement.
