A hearing on historical abuses at boarding schools for native Americans was held in the US state of Michigan. As late as the 1960s, native American school aged children at some government operative schools experience a sexual abuse and the mistreatment of their indigenous languages and practices. Representatives from 35 indigenous tribes packed into a high school gym to disclose their often traumatic and violent pasts.
