Most self-publishing authors will sell with print-on-demand offerings through KDP and Ingram Spark, but if they do a print run and need to sell on Amazon without going through those channels, Amazon Advantage is one way to get on Amazon. Print-on-demand works well for most projects but sometimes a book might be in color or may have some other feature where the author decided it made more sense to print thousands of copies somewhere else and set up distribution in other ways.
The Amazon Advantage program is a consignment program that allows you to sell a book printed by any printer. And because it’s a consignment offer – you have paid the cost of printing and will only get paid when your book has sold.
Why would an author want to use this and not print on demand? That is exactly what Julie Broad of Book Launchers discusses in this video along with some tips for using it and how it compares to Amazon Author Central.
