 "What can you see in mine?" Asks Ron.
Harry: "A load of soggy brown stuff."— Harry's first attempt at tessomancy.

Tessomancy is the art of reading tea leaves to predict events in the future. Tessomancy is taught as part of the Divination course at Hogwarts by Prof. Sybill Trelawney. Dumbledore hired her as a protection method from Lord Voldemort, as Trelawney doesn't truly understand (or remember) her true seer power and the danger it bears.

The Divination Classroom is located in the North Tower at Hogwarts castle. It was accessible through a circular trapdoor and looks like a cross between somebody's attic and an old-fashioned tea shop. 

Small, circular tables are crammed inside it, all surrounded by chintz armchairs and fat little pouffes. Everything was lit with dim, crimson light. It was warm, and the fire which was burning under the crowded mantelpiece was giving off a heavy, sickly sort of perfume as it heated a large copper kettle. The shelves running around the circular walls were crammed with stubs of candles, countless silvery crystal balls and a huge array of teacups.

Dear traveler, welcome to the Divination classroom! Have a cup of tea and take a look at the tea leaves. What is the pattern it settled on, and what does it mean?? Hermione would say reading tea leaves is a load of bull and I agree...but it's kinda fun isn't it? 
Some tea leaf explanations from Unfogging the Future, pages 5 and 6:

Acorn - "windfall, unexpected gold"
Club - "an attack"
Cross - "trials and suffering"
Falcon - "a deadly enemy"
The Grim (a large dog) - "death"
Skull - "danger in your path"
Sun - "great happiness"
