The old Jewish Cemetery in Prague is incredible - there are rows and rows of graves with gravestones falling over and stacked on top of each other with faded words. Walking through this cemetery is hauntingly beautiful. This is in my top 5 cemeteries in the world!
The Prague Jewish Cemetery is on the Jewish Quarter and is symbolic for many reasons.
This cemetery has roughly 12,000 gravestones for over 100,000 souls, meaning that bodies are buried over 10 people deep in places. That also means there are a lot of unmarked souls settled here.
The old Jewish cemetery is also the source of a lot of spooky ghost stories. There’s a boy who roams around to tell on a bad parent in the neighborhood (video coming soon!) and there’s the golem.
The Prague Jewish Cemetery is attached with the oldest operating synagogue in Europe (along with Amsterdam). This makes the cemetery symbolic for the Jewish religion worldwide.
This cemetery walk through was unreal, I could have stopped at every gravestone and wandered for hours.
I hope you enjoy the 4k cemetery walkthrough of the Prague Jewish cemetery.
