In 2004 this unequalled duo played on our Vrije Geluiden stage in Amsterdam. We noticed two musicians who were kindred spirits. Violinst Andrew Manze and keyboardist Richard Egarr are pioneers in presenting music on period and modern instruments. In this broadcasting they concentrated on baroque music on period instruments. Together they toured the world and won several prizes for their outstanding recordings.
As a player Andrew Manze specializes in repertoire from 1610 to 1830, and as a conductor he is increasingly in demand amongst 'modern' instrument orchestras. He also teaches, writes and broadcasts about many aspects of 'early music'.
Richard Egarr plays all types of historical keyboards, performing music ranging from fifteenth century organ intabulations to modern piano music from this century. He is in great demand as a soloist, chamber musician and conductor.
