Recently I was watching the Live at El Mocambo DVD by Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble and I noticed something cool that Stevie and the band all played together on the track 'So Excited'.

It was a 12-bar sequence where Stevie plays various dominant 9th chord voicings with rhythmic stabs that the bassist and drummer join in on.

In today's lesson I break down this chord stab sequence but not only that, I'm also giving you a lesson on the construction of dominant 7th and dominant 9th chords so that you actually understand how to use these chord types and voicings in your own blues rhythm playing.
