Two women in China have been accused of child abuse after they separated a crying toddler from her grandmother and locked her in the toilet of a plane, on a domestic flight. In a video uploaded by one of the women to social media, the girl can been seen wailing and trying to get out of the locked lavatory door.

The incident went viral on the Chinese internet after one of the two women, Gou Tingting, posted a video of herself carrying the girl inside the cubicle.
In her post, she presented herself as trying to help others on board, but was swiftly met with backlash.
The airline later said that the girl's grandmother had given the two women permission to "educate her".
The incident took place on 24 August onboard a Juneyao Airlines flight from the southwestern city of Guiyang to Shanghai.
The toddler, who was travelling with her grandmother, had started crying during the flight.

Passengers complained that the little girl's grandparents seemed to have no idea how to stop her crying and attempts to distract her with a mobile phone proved unsuccessful.

Sixth Tone reported that in a caption for the now-deleted video — originally posted on Douyin, China's version of TikTok — Gou said the child's crying was so loud that passengers used tissues to try to block out the sound.
The outlet said one of the women could be heard in the footage telling the wailing child they wouldn't let her out unless she stopped crying.
The video has been met with fierce backlash in China.
