47 COVID-19 cases connected to people who visited clubs in Itaewon.
As the government temporarily suspends the operation of all such facilities, health authorities are still on high alert to stop the spread of cluster infections.

South Korea has confirmed a total of 47 COVID-19 cases linked to a man who visited clubs and bars in Itaewon, the city's popular multicultural neighborhood. This is according to the combined numbers announced by health authorities and local governments. The 29-year-old patient who lives in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do Province was found to be infected after visiting five different clubs in Itaewon last Friday night...More than one-thousand-five-hundred people visited those clubs.
One of the other patients from this new cluster of infections works at a bank call center. The call center has now been closed, and workers are currently working from home.
Health authorities are investigating whether there was another source of infection other than the patient from Yongin.
Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon held an emergency briefing on Saturday at 2 PM and made an administrative order banning the operation of clubs, bars, and other nightlife places in the city.
"Such facilities have to immediately suspend their businesses and will face severe punishments in case of violation."
He added that the order would remain in effect until further notice.
In the meantime, health officials continue to urge people who visited clubs in Itaewon from April 29 to May 6 to self-quarantine and contact 1339 or a nearby health center.
