It is possible to retrofit cruise control on the Vito and Viano.
Note: Before working on airbags the battery negative terminal must always be disconnected.
Only then can the airbag be removed safely.
First remove two screws at the back of the steering wheel.
Remove the airbag from the steering wheel.
First disconnect the brown and black connectors.
Detach the green connector in the center.
Put the airbag down outside the vehicle with the deployment side facing up.
Ask an assistant for help with holding the steering wheel in place.
Unscrew the steering wheel from the steering column.
Remove the three screws of the clock spring contact.
Detach the connector.
Remove the steering angle sensor and disconnect the connector.
Remove the now exposed turn signal combination switch.
Unplug the connector.
Detach the two clips on the rubber grommet of the steering column trim.
Remove the trim piece.
The parts kit is available under the order number shown.
Remove the air shaft under the steering column to connect the cruise control switch.
Remove the screws on the trim and remove the plastic shaft.
Loosen the ignition lock module and pull it down into the footwell.
Bring the new steering column trim into position before connecting the cruise control switch.
Thread the cable through the trim so that it runs behind the steering column.
Note: The cable must not block the steering column adjuster.
Fit the combination switch and then the cruise control switch on the steering column.
Connect the connectors.
Pull the cable into the footwell and connect it to the free slot on the ignition module.
Fix the ignition lock in its position.
Tighten the switch and clock spring contact.
Guide the cable through the cutout in the steering wheel.
Tighten the steering wheel to a torque of 80 Nm.
Tighten the airbag screws to 6 Nm.
Note: On vehicles without automatic transmission, replace the accelerator pedal.
The new accelerator pedal has an additional switch for the kickdown function.
The actual installation is thus complete.
Register the cruise control in Star Diagnosis.
Select the corresponding cruise control from the list in the main group.
Note down the retrofit code - here "MS1".
The system displays which control unit requires SCN coding - here ESP.
Click F1 twice.
Access the aftersales platform via screen "Data entry for retrofits and conversion".
Log on.
Enter equipment code "MS1" and click F3.
The entry in VeDoc is thus complete.
Perform a quick test of all control units via the "Main groups" menu.
On the Vito and Viano, SCN coding must first be performed in the EZS in the event of equipment changes.
First select EZS.
Select SCN coding in control unit adaptations.
Click on the online variant.
During the coding procedure, first switch the ignition off and then back on.
Print out the log after successful SCN coding of the EZS control unit.
Then repeat the procedure for the ESP control unit as listed.
Perform a function test for cruise control on the vehicle.
Also check the new accelerator pedal with the kickdown function.
The conversion is successfully completed.
