How Thanos Broke Captain America’s Shield

Captain America’s shield was supposed to be unbreakable so how did Thanos break it?

It’s because Thanos’ sword is actually made of the same metal that Thor’s hammer was constructed from called Uru. It is a metal that can only be forged under extreme conditions such as in the heart of a dying star.

According to one of the directors of Endgame, it is very likely Thanos coerced Eitri into constructing the sword.

We also learned that vibranium absorbs kinetic energy which implies there is a limit to how much it can store. While it was able to successfully block an attack from Thor’s hammer, the strength of Thanos combined with his sword were too much for the shield.
